A unified event management service designed by Dzamling Gar, for the entire International Dzogchen Community.
The Global Event Calendar is an API service — a backend system that stores, organizes, and provides access to event data. Think of it as the central database and engine that powers event calendars across the community.
One system that stores all event information for the entire community.
Supports all Gars, Lings, and community groups independently.
Designed to work with multiple client applications seamlessly.
Third-party applications can connect and display events.
Everything you need to manage events across the community.
The system supports three types of events to accommodate different scheduling needs.
One-time events with a specific date and time.
Example:
A teaching on March 15th from 10:00 to 18:00
Events that span multiple days with different sessions.
Example:
A 5-day retreat with morning (10:00-12:00) and afternoon (15:00-17:00) sessions
Events that repeat on a regular schedule.
Example:
Weekly Yantra Yoga every Monday at 18:00
Real-world examples of how the Global Event Calendar can be used within the community.
Why the Global Event Calendar matters for the International Dzogchen Community.
No more fragmented event information spread across websites, emails, and social media. One system provides a complete view of community activities.
When event details change, the update happens once and reflects everywhere. No more conflicting information across different platforms.
The community controls its own event data. Unlike third-party calendar services, this system is built and maintained for the IDC.
Existing applications used by the community can integrate with the Global Event Calendar, including community apps, practice tools, and regional websites.
Works for a small local Ling with a few events per month, just as well as it works for major Gars with dozens of simultaneous activities.
Practitioners anywhere in the world can discover events happening at any Gar or Ling, making it easier to plan visits and participate in teachings.
The Global Event Calendar uses an Organization model to keep different Gars and Lings separate while allowing global coordination.
Isolation: Each organization's data is completely separate
Independence: Organizations manage their own events
User Membership: Each user belongs to one organization
Administration: Global admins can oversee all
Whether you're a Gar, a practitioner, or a developer, here's how to get involved.
